Family therapy is different than other kinds of therapy. In family counseling, all those interested in the problem and in resolving it are welcome to participate in the therapy sessions. In counseling with family members, the experience is much richer, and problem-solving and resolutions are more thoroughly investigated and understood. With multiple family members working toward solutions and strengthening each other, this makes the problems or challenges less daunting and more manageable. With everyone working together, the challenges and struggles will more easily be managed and resolved. While family counseling may at times be a little rowdy and energized, the energy that may sometimes seem chaotic may also be just what is needed to deal with the challenges.
Family counseling issues that I w ork with include:
- Parenting issues
- Attachment
- Domestic violence
- Conflict resolution/regulation
- Family or parent transitions
- Child abuse
- Troubles teens
- Sibling relationships
- Step-family issues
- Family relocation
- Family interaction patterns
